3 Irresistible Savory Meals That Incorporate Honey

Honey has delectably sweet flavors, but it’s a common ingredient in savory dishes, too! Continue reading about three irresistible savory meals that incorporate honey.

Honey Grilled Shrimp Skewers

This simple recipe contains plenty of flavor! Mix ingredients like garlic powder, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and white wine, and marinate the shrimp for one hour. After the hour’s up, take the shrimp out of the marinade and place them onto skewers. They’re now ready to cook on a grill on high heat.

Raw honey and melted butter combined are the finishing touches that the freshly cooked shrimp needs! The sweet flavor of raw honey adds a spark to the savory garlic and Worcestershire sauce taste.

Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas

Let’s add some spice to this honey flavor! Honey lime chicken enchiladas are a great way to incorporate hot spices that balance the sweet taste of honey.

Cook about one pound of chicken with some light seasoning. Shred the chicken and set it aside.

Next, we’re going to make a savory marinade! Whisk together honey, chili powder, lime juice, and minced garlic in a large bowl. Add the shredded chicken to the marinade and allow it to sit for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

After 30 minutes, separate the chicken from the marinade, but don’t toss it away! Then, mix the chicken with shredded Monterey Jack cheese. You’ll need about five cups of cheese, but you can add more or less to your liking!

In a large pan, grease the bottom and add half of a cup of enchilada sauce. Before adding the enchiladas to the pan, you first need to put the tortillas and the chicken together. Place the chicken in the center of the tortilla and roll it. Place it in the baking dish until the dish is full.

Add more enchilada sauce and cheese on top before baking at 350 degrees for 30 minutes! You’ll adore the subtle sweetness of the honey mixed with a classic savory dish.

Honey Soy Sauce Glazed Salmon

Did you know that honey and soy sauce are delicious when cooked together? It may come as a surprise, but the two ingredients complement one another brilliantly!

One way to cook honey soy sauce glazed salmon is to pan-fry the salmon, then add the homemade sauce. It’s super easy and a great recipe for beginners who are trying to cook something flavorful and healthy.

Whisk together soy sauce, honey, toasted sesame oil, and cornstarch in a bowl. As the salmon cooks on top of a skillet of olive oil on medium-high heat, add fresh cloves of garlic and then the mixture. Use a spoon to continuously pour the mixture over the salmon and immerse the flavors into the fish.

When incorporating honey into savory meals, it’s important to remember that raw honey is healthier than processed honey because processed honey removes many of the beneficial antioxidants. Whether you’re using it for health benefits or its lovely taste, it’s more favorable to cook with raw honey for these irresistible meals.
